Dr. Prince is an intellectual property attorney with over seventeen years of experience and owner of Think IP Consulting Group dba Prince IP. He is registered with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and admitted to practice law in California. He has extensive experience as an in-house patent attorney at both small start-up companies and large pharmaceutical companies. He is experienced in the preparation and prosecution of both U.S. and foreign patent applications involving many technologies, including small molecules, antibodies, peptides, polymers, and diagnostics.
Dr. Prince has experience with IP due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and in-licensing and out-licensing activities. He has been involved in the negotiation and drafting of license agreements, option agreements, non-disclosure agreements, master service agreements, clinical trial agreements, manufacturing agreements, consulting agreements and material transfer agreements.
Before founding Think IP, P.C/ Prince IP he was a partner at TechLaw LLP. Before that Dr. Prince served as Senior Director of IP at Cypress Bioscience where he was involved with overseeing the company’s intellectual property and transactional work. Prior to Cypress Bioscience, Dr. Prince was Senior Director of Business Operations at Palkion, Inc. and was in charge of Palkion’s IP and transactional work. Before joining Palkion, Dr. Prince served as Chief Patent Counsel for ACADIA Pharmaceuticals overseeing the company’s intellectual property strategy and implementation. Previously, he was Director of Intellectual Property at Salmedix, Inc. and Senior Patent Counsel at Pfizer. Before that, Dr. Prince served as an associate for the law firms of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison and Lyon & Lyon. He earned a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo., and a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Dr. Prince went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law. He is a past president of the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association.
